A New England style bathroom for Becky

With Becky’s side extension well underway, it was more than a little hectic. But that didn’t stop interior designer Becky from redecorating her bathroom. Here’s how Wooden blinds from Web-Blinds finished off a fresh new look.

“The base was fine,” says Becky. “We still really liked the off-white brick tiles and wooden floor but had grown tired of the purple accents and wanted something more modern.

“I knew I could do all the work myself as it would only involve a bit of decorating and I’m happiest with a paintbrush in hand!”

The walls were given a coat of pale grey/taupe paint for a gentle contrast with the tiles, and the side of the bath turned from purple to French navy as an understated focal point.

Becky says: “When I’d done the decorating, the room looked much better but was still a way off what I wanted it to be. The windows desperately needed dressing but I was keen to keep as much light flooding in as possible.

“I’d had Roller blinds before but I wanted a different look that was more traditional. White Wooden blinds were the perfect choice to support the classic style of brick tiles and the roll top bath.

“I chose Web-Blinds because the addition of tapes gives an extra detail and I’m a great believer that it’s the little things that make all the difference.

“From past experience I know how easy these blinds are to fit and it took me less than an hour to put them up. I’m delighted – they look wonderful”

The finished room has a classic base, with a few framed photographs to make it a bit special.

“The blinds are a great choice because not only do they look wonderful now, but they will continue to do so even when I redecorate in the future!”

Fact File: Meet Becky

My home:I live with my husband and two daughters in a five bedroomed 1930s house in Chorleywood, Hertfordshire.

My room then:It was rather bland and needed a bit of TLC.

My room now:The combination of colours and the lovely blinds make it look really cosy with almost a New England style.

Proudest project:I love that our house changes on a relatively regular basis – I can’t help myself! I think my husband would rather I put the paintbrush down once in a while though…
