Earlier this year, Charlotte set about updating the family living room, and her son, Max’s, new bedroom. The results are pretty gorgeous.
“Our home is fairly modern,” explains Charlotte. “Most rooms are decorated in a neutral colour with an accent wall. Despite having three boys, a dog and a cat, we try to be relatively clutter-free! Clever storage and regular clear-outs are a must.
“Our middle son, Max, started secondary school in September, and so after years of sharing with firstly his big brother, then his baby brother, we felt it was time for him to have his own room.
“Although this meant losing our spare room, in reality it was predominately used to dry our never-ending washing! So we decided to create a space that would be great for an almost teenage boy, as well as a back-up guest bedroom.
“Max had clear ideas about what he did and didn’t want in his room. He chose everything! And we decided a Roman blind would be less cluttered than curtains but still give a softness.”
It wasn’t just Max’s room that got a new lease of life though – the living room got the makeover treatment too.
“In the living room, we chose statement curtains but something was missing,” says Charlotte. “I looked for neutral blinds that would complement not only the curtains, but also our wall paint colour. I love the folds and clean lines of Roman blinds.
