Festival season is in full swing, with events taking place almost every week. A few of the big crowd pleasers like Glastonbury and T in the Park have already taken place, while others such as Reading and Leeds are still to come.
Countless column inches are dedicated to the outfits sported by celebrity festivalgoers. And it’s easy to see why, as festival fashion is fun and effortlessly stylish. If you’re thinking of updating your décor this summer, then the same principles can also be applied to your home.
Although different trends pop up every year, a few classic looks make an appearance each time. Here, Kirsty Martin from the Web-Blinds team has picked out a few of her favourites for you to try out.
Waterproof materials
Waterproofs and wellies are essentials for anybody planning a camping trip, as the weather is so unpredictable. Visitors to Glastonbury 2013 enjoyed glorious sunshine, while their 2014 counterparts weren’t so lucky.
Your interior isn’t subjected to the elements in the same way, but kitchens and bathrooms can be damp or humid, so it’s important for any furnishings to be chosen carefully. When it comes to your windows, our water-resistant North Coast shutters are ideal.
Denim
Jeans are incredibly versatile, so it’s no surprise that they are a go-to item for anyone packing for a weekend away. If the forecast is promising, they can always be swapped for a pair of denim shorts instead.
Indigo shades are also a flattering choice. When they make up part of an outfit, the deep tones have a slimming effect. And when they’re used in a room, the bold blues add a splash of drama to your surroundings.
Floral motifs
There’s something about hanging out in a field that makes everyone come over a little hippy-ish, and we think this is no bad thing! Floral hair garlands are a must-have, as they channel the style of the ‘swinging sixties’.
If you’d like to inject a hint of ‘flower power’ into your design scheme, then choosing a pretty patterned fabric is a great way to achieve this. Our Fabulous Flowers Vermillion fabric from our red Roller blinds is just one beautiful example.
