How To Easily Clean Any Blinds

Do you love the way your blinds instantly brighten your room, but hate how they can gather dust and look dirty? Spring clean your window and change your outlook with our handy tips for cleaning any blinds.

People often think cleaning their blinds is a tricky, time-consuming process, and are worried about ruining the fabric, but follow our clever hints and tips and your blinds will look brand new and sparkling in no time!

Vertical Blinds

Note: before you clean your Vertical blinds, it is important to check if the fabric is washable or can be wiped down- if not you can vacuum the louvres using the upholstery attachment on your vacuum cleaner.

To wipe clean:

To wipe clean the louvres lay them on a flat surface and gently wipe each one using a slightly damp cloth and mild detergent. Try to avoid rubbing too hard as you don’t want to damage your blinds. Also avoid spot cleaning.

To machine wash:

Yes you can actually put some blinds in your washing machine for a quick and easy fix that will leave them looking brand new. Follow our simple steps and make sure to be careful and you will have perfect blinds in no time!

Start by laying the louvres on top of each other and rolling them up tightly – keeping them in-line and ensuring there are no creases.

Place them into a pillowcase and tie it tightly to secure the louvres stay in place and don’t crease.

To get the louvres clean and fresh wash them on a woollens programme at a maximum 40 degrees – make sure to cancel the final rinse and do not spin.

 To dry:

Important: Do not tumble dry – Do not iron

Stand the tied roll on its end to allow excess water to drain away – untie the roll & hang to drip dry. Replace the weights while the louvres are still drying – when completely dry rehang back onto the headrail. And there you have it, clean, fresh smelling blinds that look as good as new!

For Roller blinds, you can simply dust as required with a clean, dry cloth. Simple!
