Our customers never cease to surprise us. So when we saw Gillian’s clever Bottom-Up blind hack, we were pretty impressed. Here’s how she gained privacy in her living room.
Gillian lives in a detached bungalow in a quiet cul-de-sac. Set in a semi-rural location, she can see hills from her living room and fields from her back garden. (Not that we’re jealous). But she still wanted a little privacy at the front window.
“We wanted to create a warm and comfortable room for the family to relax in, but also bring a country charm relative to our surroundings,” says Gillian.
“Even though the house isn’t old, it hadn’t been lived in for nine months and it needed a lot of love. We stripped everything out of the living room, painted, adding new lighting and carpets. We knew the blinds would be the cherry on the top.
“We’re lucky where we live that we’re not overlooked by other houses and from our front windows we can see hills and sky. We wanted a little privacy at the bottom of the window but we didn’t want to block out the view or the light. The Perfect Fit blinds really are perfect; because they simply clip into place it means you can alternate the direction.”
And that’s where Gillian was really clever. Although our blinds are designed to be pulled down from the top down, Gillian realised that the Perfect Fit frames could be fitted upside down to accommodate her need for privacy at the bottom of the window – just like half-height café-style shutters.
“We wanted a clean, unfussy look, which is why we chose off-white,” says Gillian. “They blend in nicely with the window frames. With the Perfect Fit blinds, there are no cords dangling and no drilling required which means we can still open a window without any obstruction.
“Measuring and fitting was amazingly easy. The information on the Web-Blinds website is fantastic, especially the videos. My husband said it’s the easiest DIY he’s ever done – it didn’t even require a toolbox or a trip to the DIY shop!
“We had a small production line going where he assembled the blind and I fitted them to the window. They were so easy to fit to the window that I was waiting for him to assemble the next one!
