Hayley moved into her home with her husband 9 years ago. Being their first home together, initially it was a blend of their two different styles of furnishings and accessories. Here’s how she redesigned her home into one cohesive space with the help of Web-Blinds.
Sometimes you need to live in a space a little to figure out what exactly it is you want from it. That was definitely the case with Hayley and her husband. The schemes came together gradually, as they got round to updating each room. Then it was time to change the window dressings.
Hayley needed to solve a different window woe in each room. The main bedroom in particular had its fair share of problems.
“We had three issues,” explains Hayley. “Privacy, lack of natural light and poor insulation. It gets really hot and uncomfortable in the summer months, so we wanted a window dressing that could balance these three problems.
“We opted for shutters because they’re a bit different and I loved the look. We chose larger louvres so that we could retain privacy when the bottom half of the shutters were closed, but flood the room with light when needed. And as they are mounted at the edge of the windowsill, we were hopeful that they’d provided an insulating air buffer between the glass and shutters.”
Hayley was busy giving other rooms an update too.
“The PVC Roller blind we bought has a great blackout effect and will be long lasting for the bathroom. I wanted something sleek looking, functional and good value, and that’s exactly what I got.”
Finally, it was the turn of the patio doors in the kitchen. Previously, these were left undressed, as Hayley was wary of getting grease on soft furnishings, as well as ruining the blinds due to the windy corner plot location of their home.

With such a lot of windows and doors to tend to, how did Hayley find measuring and fitting herself?
“Measuring for all our windows was very simple, and having the online PDFs and videos to guide us was very reassuring. I’m a fairly confident DIYer (my husband would say definitely confident, possibly less competent), so I didn’t feel to the need to take out mismeasurement protection, but it was great to have the option.
“I was really impressed with the follow up phone call to check the choices and measurements of my shutters were correct. It gave me real peace of mind for such a substantial purchase. And fitting the shutters was pretty straightforward too.
