Polly’s lessons in colour popping

Colour popping is in. And Polly’s got it nailed. Have a look at her cheerful living room and kitchen and take note. She knows exactly how to use the right amount of colour.

“I moved into my Victorian terraced house in York back in February,” says Polly. “It had just been renovated so I had the benefit of new decoration and carpets, but no window dressings in any of the rooms.”

Polly’s living room and kitchen show two different ways to use colour. One uses neutral blinds with punchy pops of colour elsewhere, the other goes for a bright flourish at the window.

In her living room, she wanted to keep the window simple and minimal, so decided on simply stylish Roman blinds.

“I liked the idea that the blinds could be raised at various levels,” says Polly. “I chose a taupe shade with a small herringbone pattern as I liked that it was plain, smart and sympathetic to the Victorian period of the house.

“It also allowed me to use the bright cushions and frames on the gallery wall. I added pops of colour to what otherwise could be quite a cold-looking room.”

In the kitchen, Polly took a different approach to colour popping. The nearly monochrome surroundings left her itching to add a splash of colour. And what better place than the window?

“I love cooking so the kitchen is an important place for me and I prefer it to be clear and uncluttered. While the kitchen is not particularly overlooked, it has a big window and gets full sun in the mornings, so a bright blind was the perfect choice.

“I chose the green because I wanted to add a fresh, modern pop of colour, and it matched accessories I already had in the kitchen.

“Web-Blinds were very helpful. I ordered samples of all my blinds before making my choice, and they arrived the next day. Delivery was super quick which was great when I’d just moved in and had sheets pinned over the windows at night!”

Polly loved that she could customise her choices, from linings to fabric. And like many of our customers, she loved being able to order samples and hold the fabric up to furnishings and walls.

“The measuring guides and videos on the website were very easy to follow and explained the process well. It meant I fitted all the blinds myself with no major issues. I’m very pleased!”
