We’re always excited to hear how delighted our customers are with their new blinds or shutters. So, when we heard about Sue from County Durham’s nine new Wooden blinds and three Shutters, we couldn’t wait to take a look!
“When it came to looking for new blinds and shutters, I wanted it to be completely fuss-free,” explains Sue. “I like shopping online, so I had a quick search of the options available. I was looking for coordinating shutters and Wood Venetian blinds throughout my home for a really sleek look.
“I ordered a number of samples from other retailers, but they weren’t anywhere near the quality of the Web-Blinds samples I received.
“When it came to measuring, my friend was happy to lend a hand. He gave me peace of mind, as measuring twelve different windows is no mean feat! The whole ordering process was so easy, and I found all the information I needed on the site.
“I decided to pick shutters for the rooms at the front of my home: my open-plan living room, as well as the master bedroom and en suite. I’ve always admired shutters in other people’s homes, so I was so excited when I placed my order!
“As for the back of the house, I opted for Wooden Venetian blinds. I couldn’t wait for all my blinds and shutters to arrive, and was delighted when they came early. They were packaged well and fantastic instructions meant we had them up in no time.
“I opted for gorgeous wide louvres for both my shutters and blinds, creating a lovely contemporary feel. My only reservation was that the shutters would cut out the light, but the opposite is true! In fact, they let the light flood in in the day, and having windows at either end of my living room means I can enjoy the sun both morning and evening.”
Sue opted for tier-on-tier shutters in her living room and bedroom, where the top and bottom sections operate independently of each other.
“The tier-on-tier style is really versatile, and means I don’t have to block out all the light if I don’t want to. They’re also great for security at the front of my house.”
Sue’s home is peppered with little touches that make her smile. She’s built up a lovely collection of art over the years. “I was attracted to this piece by the title,” she explains. “It’s called Barcode, which appealed to me as I spent my career working in the food industry. I love the skinny little figures!”
“Although I’m happy with my home, there are a few rooms I still see as a work-in-progress. Before, I used to travel the length and breadth of the country with my job. Now I’m retired, I’m quite a home bird and love tinkering with this and that. I always have a project in mind. Next, I’m going to paint the bedside tables in my bedroom with chalk paint – bright yellow, no less!”
Fact File – Meet Sue
My home: I’ve lived in my three-bedroom home in County Durham since it was built, nearly 16 years ago. I moved here from the south as part of a job relocation, but now it’s definitely home.
My rooms then: Before picking my blinds and shutters from Web-Blinds, I didn’t do any massive redecoration, as I already loved my relaxing home. But I wanted contemporary window dressings that would create a coordinated look throughout the rooms.
And now: Getting rid of my curtains created a less cluttered feel in my home. The matching white slats throughout my home look great outside at the front and back of the house.
Proudest project: I’m dead pleased with my cream cushions which I knitted during the Olympics and Wimbledon in 2012. That way, I could be glued to the screen and not feel guilty! I’m always watching design programs for extra ideas though, so who knows what I might do next!
